Valerian roots are grown and harvested on our small mountain farm with love, positive intention, and sound biodynamic practices. We feed the soil, don't use herbicides or pesticides and fertilize only with organic compost and liquid compost preparations. The roots are tinctured in Swedish, non-GMO, 80 proof vodka.
Valerian aids insomnia and restlessness, promotes a sense of calm and well being, and soothes frazzled nerves. The recommended dosage is 10-20 drops up to three times daily. It can be administered sublingually,(under the tongue), or placed in hot tea. For those sensitive to alcohol, I reccomend hot tea, as the alcohol will dissipate after a few minutes, leaving the valuable plant medicine behind in your cup of tea. The FDA recognizes Valerian officinalis as safe, but always do your own research to see if a plant is right for you. Be sure to check with a qualified health care provider if you are on prescription medications to be sure there are no contraindications.
